Job summary

Memorial Health System - Ohio in Marietta, OH seeks a Laboratory Assistant to receive and process specimens, maintain supplies, and perform clerical duties to support the lab. The role offers flex time and varying shifts, with confidentiality and quality standards as a priority.

You will work with Meditech, Atlas, and Quest systems, assist training, and ensure specimen integrity. A high school diploma or GED is required; hospital phlebotomy experience is preferred, and BLS will be obtained

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year hospital phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required – will obtain during hospital orientation.
• Maintains compliance in RQI required.

Responsibilities

• Receives laboratory samples and checks order accuracy.
• Prioritizes STAT, urgent, timed and routine orders.
• Maintains adequate stock of supplies.
• Uses Meditech, Atlas, and Quest systems to process orders.
• Registers using short form and orders appropriate tests.
• Labels, receives, centrifuges if needed, and aliquots tubes.
• Assists with lab clerical duties including recalling results, faxing reports, and calling of alert values to physicians.
• Evaluates specimen integrity before analysis.
• Properly documents and reports NCE investigation/incident reports.
• Assists with training new employees and students.
• Cleans lab equipment including centrifuges, counters, and printers.
• Utilizes Meditech to create site batches for specimen transport/order entry into Quest system.
• Retrieves specimens from the Laboratory Automated Specimen Transport Line.
