Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Sherman Oaks, CA is seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant to join our corporate lab team. You will receive, accession, label, sort, and route patient specimens, and assist with storage, inventory, and documentation.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced clinical setting. Training on SOPs, safety practices, and regulatory requirements will be provided, with opportunities to grow in healthcare support

Qualifications

• Prior clinical laboratory, specimen-processing, accessioning, or healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession, label, sort, and route patient specimens.
• Verify specimen and requisition information and identify discrepancies for escalation.
• Prepare specimens and laboratory materials for testing within the scope permitted for the position.
• Assist with specimen storage, retrieval, retention, and disposal.
• Maintain laboratory supplies, inventory, and workstation readiness.
• Assist with laboratory documentation, data entry, and record maintenance.
• Support specimen handoffs from couriers and affiliated urgent care centers.
• Maintain clean and organized laboratory work areas.
• Follow established SOPs, safety requirements, infection-control practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Escalate specimen, documentation, or workflow issues to licensed laboratory personnel as appropriate.

Working Conditions

Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
