The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Laboratory Supervisor, Newborn Screening within the Division of Health Protection, Public Health Laboratory located in Decatur, GA.
The laboratory supervisor acts as a general supervisor as defined by the 1988 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). Oversees compliance with safety procedures, reviews laboratory testing reports for validity and accuracy, and reviews and revises laboratory procedure manuals. Also manages inventory, supervises laboratory personnel, and performs technical duties when required. Saturday and/or holiday work will be required on occasion.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university, certification as a Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), and four (4) years of job-related science experience.
OR
Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Medical/Clinical Specialist 3 (LSP012) or equivalent position.

All approved teleworking employees must reside within the state of Georgia and depending on the responsibilities of the position, must live within reasonable driving distance of the agency’s primary worksite and be able to report to the office when required.
Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
