Job summary

Intertek Caleb Brett in Deer Park, TX is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for the main floor, on-site, with rotating day/night shifts (4 on 4 off) and holidays. You will oversee routine analysis, testing, and reporting to clients, while ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery of results.

The role requires at least 3 years in a petroleum testing lab, a high school diploma, strong communication and leadership, and proficiency in Word/Excel. Travel and overtime may be part of the schedule.

• Assist in training efforts and monitor technician performance.

What are we looking for?

The Lab Supervisor is responsible for the following:

• Through delegation from the Laboratory Manager, and in a safe, legal, and ethical manner, the Laboratory Supervisor oversees the routine analysis, testing, and other handling of samples, thus insuring the accurate and timely collection and reporting of information to clients.

Shift/Schedule: Rotating Day/Night Shift, 4 on 4 off, including Holidays, Weekends, and On Call Hours

What you’ll do:

• Communicate, monitor, and enforce laboratory safety and housekeeping practices

• Assist in, or conduct, investigations of discrepancies to resolve problems with clients, and to inform management of required corrective action

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• The Laboratory Supervisor is expected to be competent in the routine operation of a petroleum testing laboratory, and to have at least 3 years of practical laboratory experience
• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Understanding the significance of the data generated by test methods
• Petroleum/Petrochemical testing experience
• Ability to manage personnel to achieve the quality system, training, safety and financial goals of the office
• Ability to lead and motivate employees to actively support the objectives of the laboratory
• Ability to remain objective in adverse situations with a high level of personal and business ethic

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Ability to work weekends and overtime hours as needed
• Three (3) years of experience in hydrocarbon testing is preferred
• Some experience in LPG Testing is preferred
