Job summary

Kettering Health Miamisburg laboratory leadership opportunity seeking a professional to plan, organize, and coordinate section operations. You will oversee staff, maintain accreditation standards, control budgets, and ensure quality across tests.

The role involves training, supervision, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with the Medical Director and Manager. A MT/MLS certification and a Bachelor’s in a related science are required; 3 years of Medical Technology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory, Medical Technology, Chemical, or Biological Science (or foreign equivalent) required.
• Minimum 3 years of Medical Technology experience.
• MT or MLS (ASCP) certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates up-to-date job knowledge and adherence to department policies and procedures.
• Completes work assignments in a timely manner as working coordinator of the section.
• Assigns schedules and reviews staff to ensure tests are performed to standards and deadlines.
• Maintains adequate qualified staff following policies and procedures.
• Maintains knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Keeps required records per accreditation guidelines.
• Sets up and monitors internal/external quality control and resolves test issues.
• Manages inventory and orders supplies; recommends standing orders.
• Compares cost and quality of supplies and makes procurement recommendations.
• Prepares procedure manuals and biennial reviews per formats and guidelines.
• Maintains Activity Menu and updates Manager when tests are added or deleted.
• Responsible for equipment preventative maintenance and periodic replacements.
• Adheres to safety, infection control and hazardous materials policies.
• Notifies Manager of problems requiring work orders for equipment.

Job Summary

Responsibilities & Requirements

Under the direction of the Manager for administrative matters and the Medical Director assigned to the section for medical matters, plans, organizes and coordinates the work and employees of the section. Maintains accreditation standards, quality control and inventory. Selects, trains, evaluates, counsels and discharges employees. Maintains section in accordance with the goals and policies of the department and the institution. Maintains budgetary control. Works at bench when required. Serves as inspector for CAP. Participates in Laboratory Ward Rounds (customer service program). Coordinates student rotations.

• Maintains required records in accordance with accreditation requirements.
• Sets up and monitors appropriate internal and external quality control for instruments and test correcting problems as necessary.
• Responsibility for inventory and ordering of supplies for the section. Makes recommendations for standing orders.
• Compares cost and quality of supplies.
• Prepares procedure manual, including biennial review in accordance with departmental formats and accreditation guidelines.
• Maintains test section “Activity Menu” and notifies the Manager in advance whenever a test is to be added or deleted.
• Is responsible for preventative maintenance in the section. Makes periodic replacements in accordance with prescribed procedures.
• Adheres to safety (Universal Precautions), infection control and hazardous materials policies.
• Maintains compliance in the section and notifies the Manager if there are problems that require work orders of equipment.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Clinical Laboratory, Medical Technology, Chemical, or Biological Science (or equivalent) and
• 3 years of Medical Technology experience.
• MT or MLS (ASCP) Certificate.
