SGS is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor in the United States to oversee testing operations and staff handling crude oil, fuels, LPG/LNG, and petrochemicals. The role emphasizes quality control, client communication, and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor Degree in Science, with 3–5 years of supervisory experience, and hands-on instrumentation/calibration expertise; oil & gas background is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Science, with emphasis in chemistry or related field.
  • 3-5 years in a management and/or supervisory role.
  • Oil & Gas industry experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with instrumentation and calibrations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise laboratory testing operations and staff.
  • Explain Laboratory analysis to clients.
  • Determine authenticity of Certificates of Analysis.
  • Receive orders from clients and report status.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of sampling techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with Laboratory QA Manual and Safety Manual.
  • Perform testing and analysis as assigned.
  • Quality control of laboratory solutions and standards.
  • Manage timekeeping for direct reports.

Job Description

Responsible for the supervision of the laboratory testing operations and staff which conduct the analysis and reporting of various products such as crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, petroleum and petrochemicals, LPG & LNG gases, etc

  • Provide assistance to clients in explaining Laboratory analysis.
  • Responsible for determining authenticity of Laboratory Certificates Analysis.
  • Receive orders from clients on submitted samples; follow up on job progress and report status to clients.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of sampling techniques.
  • Assure compliance with Laboratory Q.A. Manual and Safety Manual.
  • Perform testing and analysis, as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Quality Control of laboratory solutions and standards.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Manage timekeeping for direct reports
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Science, with emphasis in chemistry or other related field. (Required)
  • Must have 3-5 years in a management and/or supervisory role. (Required)
  • Prior experience in the Oil & Gas industry preferred. (Preferred)
  • Must have prior experience with instrumentation and calibrations
