Job summary

SGS is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee testing operations and staff, ensuring accurate reporting across crude oil, fuels, and petrochemicals. A chemistry-linked science degree and 3–5 years in supervision are required, with Oil & Gas experience preferred and instrumentation/calibration expertise.

Role emphasizes QA/Safety compliance, integrity and thorough understanding of sampling techniques, along with quality control of lab solutions and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in science with emphasis in chemistry or related field.
  • 3–5 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Prior Oil & Gas industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with instrumentation and calibrations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise laboratory testing operations and staff.
  • Assist clients in understanding Laboratory analysis.
  • Determine authenticity of Laboratory Certificates Analysis.
  • Receive orders from clients and report status.
  • Maintain understanding of sampling techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with QA and Safety manuals.
  • Perform testing and analysis and related duties.
  • Quality control of laboratory solutions and standards.
  • Comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Job Description

Responsible for the supervision of the laboratory testing operations and staff which conduct the analysis and reporting of various products such as crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, petroleum and petrochemicals, LPG & LNG gases, etc

  • Provide assistance to clients in explaining Laboratory analysis.
  • Responsible for determining authenticity of Laboratory Certificates Analysis.
  • Receive orders from clients on submitted samples; follow up on job progress and report status to clients.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of sampling techniques.
  • Assure compliance with Laboratory Q.A. Manual and Safety Manual.
  • Perform testing and analysis, as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Quality Control of laboratory solutions and standards.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Science, with emphasis in chemistry or other related field. (Required)
  • Must have 3-5 years in a management and/or supervisory role. (Required)
  • Prior experience in the Oil & Gas industry preferred. (Preferred)
  • Must have prior experience with instrumentation and calibrations
