Job summary

Labcorp in Shelton, CT is seeking a dedicated Specimen Processor to prepare and route laboratory specimens, label and pack samples, and enter patient data accurately in a fast-paced production setting. You will contribute to timely testing and artifact-free specimen handling while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

The role requires a high school diploma and 3+ months of specimen processing or medical/laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience preferred.
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
• Resolve and document any problem specimens.

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our team in Shelton, CT.

Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 10:30am - 7pm

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Resolve and document any problem specimens

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience

• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range: $18-$21/hr.
