Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team at Shelton, CT. Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 4:00am to 12:30pm. Responsibilities include receiving and sorting clinical lab specimens and preparing them for testing.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with prefixed preference for 3 months of specimen processing and laboratory experience. This position involves data entry, equipment checks, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 months or more of specimen processing experience preferred.
  • 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
  • Ensure lab equipment is working and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot specimen-related issues.
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
  • Follow all SOPs to ensure safety and quality standards.

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team at Shelton, CT.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 4:00am to 12:30pm.

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
  • 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience

  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn‑around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
