ATR International's client in Philadelphia, PA, seeks a highly organized Lab Operations Specialist to oversee daily laboratory maintenance, manage vendor service contracts, and coordinate equipment certifications within a high-tempo R&D facility.

You will work with scientists and cross-functional teams to ensure lab infrastructure and safety systems run smoothly, with responsibilities including equipment management, procurement, and compliance to keep operations running at peak performance.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of pharmaceutical, biotech, or academic life sciences experience.
  • Minimum 2 years implementing maintenance/repair programs in an R&D facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to move lab equipment and consumables.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Management: Maintain accurate equipment inventories, monitor cold-storage software to prevent freezer failures, and regularly evaluate fixed lab equipment (fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, exhaust fans).
  • Vendor & Service Coordination: Manage vendor service contracts, schedule preventative maintenance, coordinate equipment calibrations/certifications, and chaperone external service technicians onsite.
  • Logistics & Procurement: Support lab supply procurement, coordinate package and compressed gas deliveries, and oversee new equipment installation.
  • Safety & Compliance: Partner with the Lab Safety Officer to enforce compliance, track PPE availability, perform safety shower/eyewash flushing, and assist with laboratory emergency/infrastructure planning.
  • General Operations: Perform routine lab maintenance (stocking supplies, waste removal), troubleshoot operational issues, and support the creation of compliant lab operating procedures.

Pay Rate: $31.01 – $41.01 / hour

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 40 hours/week (8 hours/day)

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to move lab equipment and consumables.
  • Core Competencies: Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing vendor relationships or R&D project activities.
  • Background in procurement of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Experience training/onboarding team members on lab operational protocols.
