Job description

The Impact You'll Make

The Metrology Engineer role at Lam Research involves contributing to cutting-edge semiconductor process development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to discover and implement metrology techniques, helping to advance technology that powers electronic devices globally.

Key Responsibilities

***** On-Site, B-shift: 2pm-10:30pm *****

  • Develop sample preparation techniques using focused ion beam (FIB) for R&D activities.
  • Prepare samples with FIB.
  • Generate, organize, and interpret data; modify recipes; provide technical support to technologists.
  • Implement SPC methods for periodic evaluation of metrology assets to ensure optimal performance.
  • Communicate with equipment suppliers and vendors.
  • Make recommendations to improve lab performance and workflow.
  • Occasionally train engineering technicians, laboratory service engineers, or process engineers.

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Operate other metrology equipment such as CD-SEM, Review SEM, analytical SEM, optical and X-ray thin film measurement systems (ellipsometry, XRF, XRR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), profilometry, defect inspection systems, and others.
Who We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working in an academic or professional laboratory setting.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment with protective equipment.
  • Experience operating electron microscopes and/or dual beam focused ion beams.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices and industry is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for working with internal customers.
  • Experience cleaning and maintaining high-vacuum equipment is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range: $70,000 - $155,000. Actual offers depend on location, experience, education, skills, and other factors.
