Job Summary

The Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and specimen collection, utilizing Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) for various functions including patient registration, order entry, and report generation. They process specimens for diagnostic testing and ensure accurate registration and handling of samples.

Qualifications

• High School/GED (required)
• Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)
• 1 year phlebotomy experience (preferred)
• Basic phlebotomy training (preferred)

Essential Job Functions

• Perform specimen collection procedures
• Process and send out specimens and body fluids
• Enter orders and perform accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting of samples
• Generate reports and register patients
• Provide basic customer service
• Maintain inventory and supplies
• When in Microbiology, set up cultures and perform gram stains
• Perform phlebotomy duties as needed
