Job summary

Texas A&M University seeks a Laboratory Manager to oversee daily lab operations, course preparation, and facility maintenance within the Biology Department. You will lead staff, coordinate equipment, and ensure a safe learning environment for students and instructors.

The role requires supervision experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to safety and training. Some roles may require weekend or after-hours support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field; experience in medical or teaching labs.
  • Master’s degree highly preferred with supervisory/teaching background.
  • CPR/First Aid, hazardous chemical training, and FAMIS training are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, course prep, and maintenance to support instructional activities.
  • Train and supervise technicians, teaching assistants, and student workers; manage schedules.
  • Coordinate lab purchasing, inventory, and budget, ensuring compliance and resource availability.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance; maintain chemical inventories and reporting.
  • Update online lab resources and preserve teaching materials and specimens.
