We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of a clinical laboratory. This position will manage technical and support staff, ensure regulatory and quality compliance, optimize laboratory workflows, and support efficient delivery of clinical testing services.
The manager will work closely with the Laboratory Director and collaborate with healthcare providers, clients, vendors, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, workflow, scheduling, and turnaround times.
- Monitor send-out testing and ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Optimize laboratory processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate and implement new testing procedures, methodologies, and technologies.
Staff Management
- Supervise technical and support staff.
- Conduct training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
- Handle corrective actions and employee development.
- Build and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards.
- Develop and update SOPs and maintain accreditation documentation.
- Monitor quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Support proficiency testing, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Ensure laboratory safety standards are maintained.
Laboratory Systems & Data
- Maintain and troubleshoot the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Analyze laboratory testing data and operational metrics.
- Prepare performance reports and ad-hoc reports.
- Manage testing statistics, code mapping/integration, and final testing remarks.
Budget, Equipment & Vendors
- Manage laboratory inventory and supplies.
- Oversee equipment maintenance.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts.
- Support cost control and budget monitoring.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Collaborate with physicians, healthcare providers, and internal departments.
- Serve as a liaison with clients, business partners, vendors, hospital departments, and auditors.
- Address customer service and operational issues.
- Support both B2B and B2C laboratory operations.
Testing & Quality Improvement
- Support development and validation of new assays and procedures.
- Assist with complex technical and administrative issues.
- Support molecular, esoteric, and other specialized testing operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Current Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) certification through ASCP or equivalent.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license required.
- Minimum 5 years of CLIA-regulated clinical laboratory experience.
- At least 3 years of experience supervising/managing direct reports.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and people-management experience.
- Proven ability to develop and retain laboratory talent.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and operational management skills.
- Experience with molecular testing, esoteric testing, or mass spectrometry is beneficial.
- Korean bilingual proficiency (spoken and written) preferred but not required.
