Job summary

DCH Health System in Tuscaloosa seeks a Laboratory Manager to provide leadership, development, and financial oversight for multi-disciplinary clinical services. You will drive process improvement, assure quality, and collaborate with the Director and other departments.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or biological science with certification (ASCP/AMT preferred), plus 5 years in a clinical lab and 3 years in supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in clinical laboratory science or biological science; certification as CLS/MLT preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred; AMT acceptable with applicable experience.
• At least five years in a clinical laboratory with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads staff development and professional growth across clinical disciplines.
• Recommends quality indicators and coordinates process improvements.
• Monitors customer inquiries, investigates complaints, and initiates corrective actions.
• Prepares and submits reports on process improvement and compliance.
• Maintains a robust process improvement program and documents policies.
• Maintains an up-to-date regulatory compliance plan and tracks laboratory costs.
• Coordinates quality management to meet customer expectations.
• Keeps current with technical knowledge through journals and trainings.
• Participates in budget planning and justification for capital equipment.
• Aligns laboratory goals with organizational strategies in service, excellence and growth.
• Communicates issues to customers via memos, email, meetings.
