Lab Manager – Tampa, FL

Build better, break ground, and lead the way!

MC Squared is on the hunt for a sharp, hands-on Lab Manager ready to take charge of a high-performing laboratory environment that fuels some of the most critical infrastructure in Florida. If your idea of a good day involves keeping people safe, quality high, and chaos low — we want to meet you.

What You'll Be Doing (a.k.a. Your Superpowers In Action)

  • Champion lab safety and efficiency — you’ll run a tight, productive, and clean ship.
  • Keep our testing equipment finely tuned and calibration-ready (because “meh” is not in your vocabulary).
  • Ensure we pass FDOT qualifications and audits with flying colors — again and again.
  • Lead internal documentation and accreditation efforts like a pro.
  • Deliver test results that are on-point, on-time, and crystal clear.
  • Help shape our lab team — hiring, mentoring, and building a culture that’s collaborative and compliant.
  • Roll up your sleeves to perform and supervise materials testing (bonus points if you’ve tested anything that could crack a sidewalk).
  • Align lab operations with our Quality Management Program and the gold standards of AASHTO and ASTM.
  • Partner with department managers to ensure the lab can support complex geotechnical and construction testing needs.
  • Occasionally lift heavy things (>70 lbs.) like a boss.
  • Support continuous improvement by refreshing SOPs and the QMS.
  • Assist with Radiation Safety Officer duties (yes, we’re thorough — safety is non-negotiable).

The Credentials We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field? Perfect. But solid experience speaks volumes, too.
  • 3+ years in a construction or geotechnical lab setting — ideally with FDOT project exposure.
  • Familiarity with the FDOT MAC System? Big plus.
  • Hands-on testing experience in soils, masonry, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Communicates with clarity and confidence — in writing and person.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel warriors welcome).
  • Holds ACI and CTQP certifications (or on your way to getting them).

Perks + Benefits (a.k.a. Why You'll Want to Stick Around):

  • Competitive pay plus performance bonuses.
  • Medical coverage that kicks in fast – three plans to choose from and 100% coverage for you.
  • Dental, vision, HSA, and all the usual wellness options.
  • 401(k) with a 3% company contribution — no strings attached.
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance – 100% company-paid.
  • $50K life insurance — also fully covered.
  • Optional accident and critical illness insurance.
  • Paid time off (yes, we encourage using it).
  • Company holidays.
  • Ongoing professional development and certification support — we invest in your growth.

Equal Opportunity for All

At MC Squared, we believe great teams are built through diversity, respect, and the freedom to show up as yourself. All qualified candidates will receive consideration without regard to race, gender, orientation, identity, veteran status, or disability.
