Job summary

Laboratory Sciences of Arizona seeks a leader to develop, direct and manage operational activities within the laboratory to meet company objectives. You will supervise staff, drive education and mentoring, and ensure compliance with CLIA and OSHA standards.

The role collaborates with SQL/LSA and Banner Finance to develop budgets and achieve annual goals, and you will implement workflows and processes to improve efficiency using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Four years of training and experience in high‑complexity testing in the respective specialty.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• MLS or Specialty Certification (preferred).
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs the workflow for departmental staff and provides education, development and mentoring.
• Collaborates with SQL/LSA and Banner Finance Teams; participates in budgeting and ensuring goals are met.
• Ensures laboratory accreditation (CLIA) and OSHA compliance; monitors activities impacted by Banner Health initiatives.
• Leads process management initiatives using Six Sigma and Lean to increase efficiency and compliance.
• Serves as a resource and communication liaison to staff, clients, Banner Health and LSA/SQL.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position develops, directs, and manages operational activities within the laboratory to effectively meet company objectives. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

CORE FUNCTIONS

• Hires, trains and conducts performance evaluations; directs the workflow for departmental staff. Provides education, development and mentoring. Accountable for developing and implementing departmental goals and objectives; ensures all goals and objectives are met timely and effectively.
• Works collaboratively with SQL/LSA and Banner Finance Teams; participates in developing the department budget and ensures budgetary goals are met annually.
• Accountable for the laboratory or laboratories to maintain applicable accreditation (CLIA) and OSHA compliance; may include monitoring activities impacted by Banner Health initiatives for patient care.
• Performs process management by leading and participating in task forces and councils; develops and implements processes, procedures, matrix and programs to increase operational efficiency, compliance and effectiveness using Six Sigma and Lean.
• Serves as a resource and communication liaison by facilitating timely and accurate dissemination of information to staff, clients, Banner Health and LSA/SQL.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Four (4) years of training and experience in high‑complexity testing in the respective specialty.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
• MLS or Specialty Certification.
• Additional related education and/or experience.
