Job summary

UVM Health - Elizabethtown Community Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee the daily operation of the hospital's laboratory services across Elizabethtown and Ticonderoga locations. The role emphasizes personnel management, budgeting, policy enforcement, LIS maintenance, and ensuring outstanding customer service.

The ideal candidate will hold a BS in Medical Technology or ASCP/NCA certification, meet NYS DOE supervisor requirements, and bring several years of clinical lab leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology (hospital-based formal internship required).
• ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
• Meets minimum requirements for laboratory supervisor as described in NYS Dept. of Health regulations 58-2.4.
• NYSED License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist (preferred).
• Four years of clinical laboratory experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of the Laboratory.
• Manage personnel and goals, budget input and staff development.
• Teach and communicate with staff; ensure policies and procedures are followed.
• Manage test selection and results; oversee LIS maintenance.
• Coordinate cost management and customer service excellence.
• Collaborate with Medical Director and Technical staff across locations.

Job Description

The Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the Laboratory. Responsibilities include personnel management, goal setting, budget input, teaching, communication, test management, policies and procedure management, cost management, LIS maintenance, staff development and outstanding customer service skills. As part of the management team, works collaboratively with Technical staff, and frequently works with and coordinates activities with the Medical Director.

This position equally covers both the Ticonderoga and Elizabethtown locations.

Education

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology (hospital-based formal internship required)
• OR
• ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
• Meets minimum requirements for laboratory supervisor as described in NYS Dept. of Health regulations 58-2.4
• NYSED License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist (preferred).

Experience
