Job summary

Cynet Health is seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead laboratory assistants, phlebotomy staff, and outreach collection services across multiple sites. You will coordinate staffing, workflows, and regulatory compliance to ensure accurate testing and exceptional patient service.

Qualifications

• BA/AS in biological or chemical science preferred; High school diploma required.
• Three (3) years of laboratory experience performing phlebotomy, laboratory assistant, specimen processing, specimen collection, or related laboratory functions required.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience coordinating operations across multiple laboratory collection sites preferred.
• Experience with laboratory information systems, registration, specimen processing, and workflow management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership and operational oversight for laboratory assistants, phlebotomy staff, and outreach collection services.
• Coordinate staffing assignments, schedules, workflow, and service coverage to ensure efficient operations and appropriate staffing across all supported locations.
• Supervise staff performance including orientation, training, competency assessment, coaching, scheduling, performance evaluations, corrective action, and professional development.
• Provide technical guidance and support for specimen collection, processing, patient identification, documentation, laboratory registration, order activation, and specimen transport processes.
• Ensure specimen integrity by maintaining compliance with laboratory collection, labeling, processing, storage, transport, and documentation standards.
• Monitor operational quality indicators, turnaround times, staffing metrics, productivity, customer service, and process improvement initiatives.
• Oversee inventory management of laboratory supplies and equipment required for phlebotomy, specimen collection, and outreach operations.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, infection prevention practices, and workplace safety requirements.
• Participate in quality assurance, risk reduction, and regulatory readiness activities.
• Investigate operational concerns, resolve workflow issues, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and service quality.

Description:The Supervisor, Lab Assistants & Phlebotomy provides operational leadership and daily oversight for laboratory assistant, phlebotomy, and outreach collection services.This position is responsible for coordinating staffing, workflow, quality, regulatory compliance, customer service, and staff development to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered laboratory support services.The Supervisor oversees specimen collection, labeling, processing, registration, and order activation functions, specimen transport, and outreach operations while promoting standardized practices, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement.This position collaborates closely with laboratory leadership, nursing, providers, clinic staff, and outreach clients to support timely, accurate diagnostic testing and exceptional customer service.

Physical Requirements:The Supervisor frequently stands, walks, and travels between departments and collection sites to support staff and operational needs.The position requires occasional performance of venipuncture and specimen collection procedures, handling laboratory specimens, and lifting or carrying supplies and equipment.Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and fine motor coordination are required for specimen collection, computer work, and equipment operation.

Environmental Requirements:Work is performed throughout units, clinics, laboratory departments, and outreach locations with routine exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, chemicals, and standard laboratory equipment.The position requires adherence to all infection prevention, safety, and personal protective equipment requirements.The role involves frequent interaction with patients, providers, clinical staff, and laboratory personnel while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Variable workloads, changing priorities, and occasional travel between locations may be required.
