Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Laboratory Information Manager) within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service to oversee LIS/HIS integration, policy development, and regulatory compliance.

You will implement interfaces, maintain system functionality, and support accurate patient testing across the VA network. As a trusted advisor, you will coordinate with CPRS/VistA teams, train staff, and ensure data security and quality in laboratory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in MLS or related clinical laboratory science field.
• Certification options include MLS MT by ASCP BOC/AMT or equivalent.
• Grandfathering provisions may apply to current VA employees in this occupation.

Responsibilities

• Develops and recommends policies for LIS/HIS installation and use.
• Provides expert consultation on laboratory information systems and interfaces.
• Implements and maintains laboratory computer operations and security.
• Trains staff and coordinates with CPRS and VistA teams.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and data integrity.
