Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Laboratory Information Manager) in California. The role will lead the LIS-related policies and procedures within the hospital information system, advise on LIS capabilities, and oversee coding/mapping for lab orders, reporting, and billing.

Strong knowledge of laboratory operations and software integration is required. The position includes responsibilities for compliance audits and collaboration with software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in medical laboratory science or in a related science (chemistry/biochem/biology/microbiology).
• Certification options: MLS Generalist (ASCP BOC/AMT) or MT Generalist (ASCP BOR/AMT) or grandfathering provisions.

Responsibilities

• Advise on LIS functions and capabilities across organizational levels.
• Develop and maintain coding and mapping for laboratory test ordering, reporting, billing, and workload recording.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and perform audits as needed.
• Coordinate with national software developers for testing and validation of packages.
