Gas Innovations, a world leading provider of high purity hydrocarbons in the refrigerant, pharmaceutical, industrial, electronics, and agricultural chemical industries, is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to join their team in Houston, TX.
If you have your bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or another related science discipline and strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail, Gas Innovations wants to hear from you! Experience with gas chromatography, FID/TCD/PDHID/PFPD detectors, calibration standards, method development, high-purity gas analysis, or ISO-based quality systems is highly preferred.
This is a critical role where you will be expected to provide accurate, reliable, and timely analytical results that allow production to release products with confidence. The position requires a high level of accountability as laboratory results directly affect product quality, customer requirements, production schedules, and shipment timelines.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or another related Science discipline.
- Previous laboratory experience preferred, particularly within the industrial gas, specialty gas, petrochemical, chemical manufacturing, or analytical testing industries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple analytical priorities in a production environment.
- Experience with gas chromatography, FID, TCD, PDHID, PFPD detectors, calibration standards, method development, high-purity gas analysis, or ISO-based quality systems is highly preferred.
- Experience performing moisture analysis in gases or liquids using approved instrumentation is highly preferred.
- Understanding of laboratory and industrial liquid and vapor sampling a plus.
Essential duties/responsibilities:
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of specialty gas products and raw materials.
- Operate analytical instrumentation, including Gas Chromatographs (GC), FID, TCD, and other applicable laboratory equipment.
- Analyze finished products to verify compliance with customer specifications and internal quality requirements.
- Review analytical data and determine product acceptance or required corrective action.
- Prepare and verify Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and laboratory documentation.
- Develop, maintain, and follow analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
- Perform calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs of laboratory instrumentation.
- Prepare and maintain calibration standards and reference materials.
- Support the analysis of specialty gases, including hydrocarbons, permanent gases, reactive gases, and high-purity products.
- Investigate out-of-specification results and assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure traceability of analytical results.
- Work closely with production personnel to prioritize testing based on production and customer requirements.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, including standards, gases, supplies, and replacement parts.
- Follow all company safety procedures when handling compressed gases, hazardous materials, and laboratory chemicals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory.
- Assist with quality audits, nonconformances, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional laboratory and quality-related duties as assigned.
