An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join their team. This role involves performing essential technical and clerical functions within the laboratory, including specimen processing and test result documentation. Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the performance and recording of waived and specified moderate complexity tests and tasks under the direction of Medical Technologists.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent □ Preferred X Required
Associate's Degree X Preferred □ Required
Certifications:
Phlebotomy Technician (PBT ASCP) or equivalent certification, Certified Medical Assistant, Virginia State License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP MLS), Medical Lab Technician (ASCP MLT) Required within 18 months of hire.
Minimum Work Experience
Required - 6 months full time equivalent general phlebotomy or waived/moderate Laboratory testing experience
Preferred - 12 months full time hospital-based phlebotomy and waived/moderate lab testing experience
