As a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist, your responsibilities include:

  • Specimen collection, testing requirements, and understanding specimen rejection.
  • Collecting blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture on patients of all ages.
  • Completing specimen collection documentation accurately.
  • Following procedures for patient identification and specimen collection based on test orders.
  • Educating patients and families about specimen collection procedures.
  • Using our computer information system for job functions.
  • Performing clerical duties such as faxing, phone communication, pneumatic tube system management, and report handling.
  • Reviewing Outstanding Specimen Reports and managing pending collections or accessioning issues.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational/technical diploma preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification beneficial.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Strong time management and customer service skills.
