Job Summary

The Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist is responsible for providing skilled specimen collection via venipuncture and capillary sticks while providing exceptional customer service as the face of the laboratory. They are responsible for receiving and processing samples as well as packaging samples for send-outs. They distribute samples tested in-house to different testing benches. The Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist is also responsible for carrying out clerical tasks including, but not limited to, computer data entry, telephone reception, and other general lab duties.

Pay Range

Minimum $21.98 Midpoint $29.13 Maximum $36.28

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

• Required: Minimum one (1) year phlebotomy experience.

• Preferred: One (1 ) or more years of infant/pediatric blood collection experience.

Education

• Required: High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent. Graduation from Phlebotomist Tech training program

• Preferred: Completion of some c ollege level courses.

Specialized Skills

• Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Be a team player; ability to operate lab equipment and proficient in human venipuncture techniques. Strong attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area

Licensure

• Required: Certified Phlebotomist Tech 1 (California)

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Light - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
