Job Summary

The Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist provides skilled specimen collection via venipuncture and capillary sticks, offering exceptional customer service. They receive, process, and package samples for send-outs, and distribute in-house tested samples. They also perform clerical tasks such as data entry, telephone reception, and other lab duties.

Pay Range

Minimum $21.98, Midpoint $29.13, Maximum $36.28

Rate depends on knowledge, skills, experience, education, and position requirements.

Experience
  • Required: Minimum one (1) year phlebotomy experience.
  • Preferred: Infant/pediatric blood collection experience.
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; Graduation from Phlebotomist Tech training program.
  • Preferred: Some college coursework completed.
Specialized Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, judgment, problem-solving abilities.
  • Team player; proficiency in lab equipment and venipuncture techniques.
  • Attention to detail; ability to work under stress.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the lab.
Licensure
  • Required: Certified Phlebotomist Tech 1 (California).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Light to moderate energy; ability to lift 25-35 lbs, push/pull 50-100 lbs. Includes bending, reaching, standing, and other physical activities. Sensory requirements include color discrimination, depth perception, and hearing. Environment may involve exposure to airborne diseases, chemicals, and other hazards.
