Job summary

Norman Regional is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomy Tech to join our fast-paced laboratory team in Moore, OK. You will perform venipuncture and capillary punctures, receive specimens, and process samples for testing and storage.

The role requires knowledge of specimen requirements and safety practices, with opportunities for advancement within a community-focused lab. Applicants should have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Experience with phlebotomy or related clinical rotation is preferred.
• Knowledge of specimen requirements and testing procedures.
• Ability to perform waived testing as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures.
• Receive and distribute specimens in the laboratory.
• Process specimens for testing and storage; send out to reference labs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of specimen requirements and testing limitations.
• Act as a resource for laboratory information.

Job Summary

• Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood tests and know all safety requirements.
• Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
• Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements and limitation of testing procedures.
• Performs waived testing as required.
• Demonstrates knowledge about the functionality of the Lab’s automation line.
• Acts as a resource for laboratory information.
• Timeliness of specimen collections and contamination.

Qualifications

Education

• High school education or equivalent.
• Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience

• 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Licensure/Certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.

Compensation/Benefits

• $16.07-$27.25/hr depending on previous work experience
