Job summary

Swedish Hospital, part of Endeavor Health, seeks a Laboratory Assistant II in Chicago. The role supports laboratory staff, processes specimens, and ensures accurate documentation in the LIS system.

The full-time position runs Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with rotating weekends and holidays. Eligible employees receive premium pay and a comprehensive benefits package, including tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year phlebotomy or laboratory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer support as liaison between laboratory and providers.
• Specimen processing and handling according to guidelines and procedures.
• Record and document specimen information in Laboratory Information System.
• Prepare and track specimen for transport to reference laboratories.
• Maintain organized records and HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain and clean laboratory equipment.
• Assist with inventory control and supply ordering.
• Adhere to safety protocol and infection control measures, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including CAP.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.31 - $28.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
