ECU Health Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC seeks a Laboratory Assistant to perform venous and capillary blood collections, process specimens for analysis, and support the laboratory with documentation to meet accreditation standards. The role is PRN, with shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
Preferred candidates have a phlebotomy training course and 6 months of related experience; ASCP or other national phlebotomy certs are desirable.
The Laboratory Assistant processes outpatient test requests.
Phlebotomy certification by ASCP or another nationally recognized certifying agency is preferred:
National Healthcare Association (NHA) – Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomy Examination (CLPlb), American Society of Clinical Pathologists – Phlebotomy Technician Examination [PBT(ASCP)], International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences (IAPS), National Phlebotomy Association (NPA), American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE), National Phlebotomy Solutions (NPS), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or another national certification as approved by Laboratory Service Line leadership.
ECU Health Duplin Hospital is an 81-bed facility located in Kenansville, North Carolina. The 15-bed emergency department serves approximately 25,000 patients per year. In addition to providing general medical and surgical services, ECU Health Duplin Hospital offers chemotherapy and other cancer infusion interventions and has earned national designation as a Primary Stroke Center.
