Job Summary:
Performs venipuncture, skin puncture, and manages pre-analytical and post-analytical steps of laboratory testing.
Essential Responsibilities:

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws at all levels.
• Selects appropriate phlebotomy techniques based on patient age and physical maturity.
• Assesses the required blood volume considering patient age, physical maturity, and the specific test or study.
• Performs venipuncture, finger sticks, or heel sticks proficiently on patients of all ages.
• Properly labels samples and transports them to the laboratory or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
• Handles pre-analytical processes such as bar coding, centrifuging, separating, logging, culturing, and staining specimens.
• Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations with patients, the public, and colleagues.
• Performs additional duties such as patient check-in, revenue collection, test order accessioning, and patient preparation instructions.
• Handles difficult patients professionally.
• Maintains professionalism in attitude and appearance at all times.
• Follows directives from supervisors, leads, and senior staff.
