Indiana University Health in Bloomington seeks a Lab Assistant I to provide essential laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry and pre-analytic processing. The role involves clerical tasks, potential patient registration, and specimen delivery within a high-volume setting.

The position supports a 24/7 operation across our hospitals. Requires HS/GED and phlebotomy training; drivers license and computer skills are advantageous.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy training program completed; lab experience preferred.
• Valid Indiana driver's license and good driving history may be required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Working knowledge of computers and telephone usage.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation and pre-analytic processing.
• Perform related clerical tasks and assist with patient and specimen registration.
• Deliver specimens as part of routine lab workflow and support team objectives.
