Join a leading healthcare organization as a Medical Laboratory Assistant I. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions, providing high-quality service to clinical laboratory clients. Your contributions will include specimen procurement, handling, processing, and reporting results, all while collaborating closely with nursing and health professional teams.
You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and processing of biological specimens, performing ECG and Holter monitoring testing, referral and dispatch of samples. You will be working with a small Lab and DI team, who work closely with nursing and other health care professionals.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Equivalencies may be considered. Cardiology training and experience including ECG's and Holter Monitors. All blood collection procedures including venipuncture, micro punctures, blood culture collection as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics. Urinalysis training including recent macro and micro urinalysis experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Familiar with Clinitek Status. Recent experience with Muse and Cardioday. Recent and relevant experience with Epic Beaker. Current registration with CSMLS. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and promote teamwork.
