Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of phlebotomy experience
• Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and techniques
• Ability to interpret and analyze technical data and quality control results
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a high-volume environment
• Proficient in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and standard computer applications

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures, nasal swabs, and finger sticks using aseptic technique and with as little patient discomfort as possible
• Verifies positive patient identification
• Knowledgeable about color top tubes, labeling, and volume requirements
• Maintains safety by observing standard precautions and proper disposal of sharps
• Centrifuges specimens and prepares for transport
• Documents correct information for statistics and billing
• Stocks and orders supplies as needed
