Job summary

UC San Diego Health Sciences is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the Anesthesiology Lab on the East Campus in La Jolla. This 100% career position offers a hybrid schedule combining onsite work and remote tasks, with an hourly pay scale of $27.04–$29.26.

Responsibilities include assisting with data collection, lab operations, IRB adherence, coordinating with researchers, and supporting studies on psychedelics, mindfulness, and pain mechanisms, with required high school education and science

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED; one year lab experience or two years of college in sciences.
• Knowledge of psychology, neuroscience, human biology, and pre-medicine.
• Knowledge of safe human testing procedures (CITI training; IRB).
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• Knowledge of basic computer programs including word processing, basic coding, SPSS, Word, Excel, and Unix.
• Must adhere to UCSD safety and environmental guidelines.
• Able to work effectively with human volunteers and patients.
• Thorough understanding of lab principles including sample handling and biosafety standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to establish trust with participants.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; maintain accurate records.
• Assists with participant recruitment including prescreening and scheduling.
• Experience with data collection, entry, or database management in REDCap or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine laboratory operations and maintenance.
• Support data collection, psychophysical methodologies, and behavioral interventions.
• Adhere to IRB protocols and ensure accurate data collection.
• Assist with recruitment, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
• Maintain records and documentation with attention to biosafety standards.
