Pride Health is hiring a Specimen Technician to support our client’s medical facility based in Tampa, FL, 33617.

This is a contract position with a possible extension, offering a great opportunity to work with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Title: Specimen Technician

Location: Tampa, FL, 33617

Schedule: 3rd Shift

Pay Range: $19.78/hr

Shift: 10 pm - 6:30 am

Contract Duration: 3+ Months

Job Description: The SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires a data entry background and includes tasks such as A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of specimens, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting. All functions must be performed accurately, confidently, and timely. The position demands good organizational skills, the ability to learn specimen types and testing procedures, and understanding of compliance regulations that may change daily. Flexibility is essential due to the dynamic nature of the work. The majority of work is on the night shift, with potential requirements for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.

The department operates in a production environment emphasizing productivity and quality standards.

• Requires data entry skills with the ability to enter 6,000+ keystrokes per hour.
• Works in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits.
• Able to sit or stand for extended periods.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge: Basic computer skills, laboratory testing, and specimen processing knowledge.

Work Experience:

• Experience in a hospital laboratory or production environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
