A family-owned laboratory specializing in sensory testing and evaluation of environmental odors, aromas, flavors, and fragrances is seeking a Lab Associate to join their team.

As a Lab Associate, you will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, quality, and reliability in every project delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, organize, and analyze samples for sensory testing, following strictly defined protocols.
- Set up and monitor odor evaluation panels, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Perform laboratory tasks including sample logging, data recording, QA/QC documentation, equipment calibration, and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and supply inventory in compliance with safety procedures.
- Support the team with test design and documentation, as requested.
- Assist with general administrative tasks related to lab operations.
- Participate as a sensory assessor in a back-up capacity, as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, assessors, and customers to ensure smooth workflow and top-notch service.
Required Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, food science, or a related field; and/or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Ability to follow precise procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Comfort working with both technical staff and non-technical assessors.
- Ability to, at times, adjust scheduling, with advanced notice, for testing that requires early-morning starts or late-evening completions.
- Team player with strong dexterity skills, particularly hands and fingers, handling repetitive tasks, a good sense of smell (meeting certified standards), and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous laboratory experience (academic, research, or industry).
- Familiarity with and keen interest in sensory science, odor testing, or environmental analysis.
- Experience with data entry, various software platforms, and basic statistical analysis.
