CorePlus Servicos Clinicos y Patologicos LLC in Puerto Rico is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a full-time role in Ponce. The position involves receiving, processing and preparing clinical specimens for hematology, chemistry, immunology and coagulation, with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

You will accession cases in the Laboratory Information System, verify specimen quality, handle shipments to reference labs and maintain QC logs, inventory and safety procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Receive, accession and label clinical specimens into the Laboratory Information System (SAIL).
• Verify specimen acceptability (volume, tube type, hemolysis).
• Package and ship specimens to reference laboratories following temperature controls and handling requirements.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Perform routine preventive or corrective maintenance.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Maintain area well-stocked and request necessary supplies.
• Report patient safety issues and specimen deficiencies.
• Review and upkeep QC and maintenance logs.
• Store and dispose of hazardous wastes using safety procedures.
• Implement the SOP protocols daily.
• Always wear personal protective equipment.
• Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner with minimal supervision.

The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant receives, processes and prepares all clinical specimens for the laboratory’s Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology and Coagulation departments. The Assistant must be prepared to accession cases for internal and external (B2B) clients, know all procedures involved in specimen processing and reference laboratory shipments, and document pertinent quality control, inventory and credentialing information for the area.
