Job summary

HealthPartners laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen collection, processing, and testing in a patient-centered environment. You will perform SOP-driven procedures, maintain equipment and supplies, and uphold confidentiality and teamwork across the department.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and strong customer service orientation. Some phlebotomy experience is preferred, with opportunities for ongoing education and growth within

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year computer navigation and Microsoft Office experience (Word and Outlook) or comparable applications.
  • Typing or keyboarding skills.
  • Promote teamwork through courteous and cooperative attitude to all customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process biological specimens with appropriate techniques following SOP.
  • Perform testing analyses and verify assay/analyzer performance according to SOP.
  • Document and communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately according to SOP.
  • Perform and document maintenance procedures plus maintain adequate supplies.
  • Demonstrate competency and comply with all regulatory agency policies.
  • Consistently implement and adhere to the laboratory customer service standards.
  • Respond proactively to stressful circumstances, customer needs and department changes.
  • Demonstrate professional development through continuing education and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
  • HighSchool Diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:

Abilityto sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must possess speech,hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position.Manual dexterity required. Must be able to speak, read and writeEnglish proficiently. Some lifting may be required.

POSITIONPURPOSE:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Collectand process biological specimens with appropriate techniquesfollowing established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  2. Performtesting analysis and verify assay/analyzer performance according toSOP in an efficient cost effective manner. Any combination of thefollowing areas may be included: Phlebotomy, computer operation, EKG,reception, telephones, clerical and designated testing procedures
  3. Documentand communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately accordingto SOP.
  4. Performand document maintenance procedures plus maintain adequate supplies.
  5. Demonstratecompetency and comply with all regulatory agency policies.
  6. Consistentlyimplement and adhere to the laboratory customer service standards.The standards include maintaining confidentiality, promotingteamwork, successful communication and conflict resolution.
  7. Respondproactively to stressful circumstances, customer needs anddepartment/clinic changes.
  8. Demonstrateprofessional development through participation in continuingeducation, special projects and community / corporate / professionalorganizations. Demonstrate personal development throughdependability, professional appearance and cooperative attitude.
  9. Performother duties as assigned.
