How You'll Spend Your Time In The Lab
As the Lab Assistant, you will support daily lab operations by assisting with water testing, media preparation, and cleanroom procedures; other duties include:
- Perform Colilert-18 testing and participate in proficiency testing (PT) and Demonstration of Capability (DOC) requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of testing and media preparation in accordance with Nova policies, laboratory certifications, and accreditation standards (GMP, GLP, ISO 17025, NELAP/TNI).
- Receive, log, label, and test water samples while ensuring proper handling, storage, and sample integrity.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to track and document testing data.
- Provide technical support for media making and assume Media Technician duties as needed.
- Assist in quality assurance (QA) investigations related to water testing.
- Perform general lab maintenance and upkeep.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed and complete additional duties as assigned by management.
Position Info
This is a full-time, onsite position based at Nova Biologicals in Conroe, Texas. The schedule is M – F , 8:00AM – 5:00PM with occasional weekends required.
What You Need
Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related science discipline and/or related laboratory experience, and authorization to work in the United States indefinitely, without restrictions or sponsorship. Other items include:
- Familiarity with GMP, GLP, and ISO 17025 standards-or a willingness to learn fast
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow SOPs
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Fine motor skills for handling samples and performing testing procedures
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn lab software systems like LIMS
- Willingness to occasionally work on Saturdays (minimum of two per quarter)
- TCEQ water operator license class C is preferred
