Qualifications

• DVM degree from an accredited institution.
• Current license to practice veterinary medicine in a U.S. state.
• Minimum of SIX (6) years of experience in laboratory animal medicine.
• Proficiency with small laboratory animals, specifically mice and guinea pigs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD public trust.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine and emergency veterinary care for laboratory animals.
• Support animal welfare and ACUC participation.
• Maintain accurate medical records including treatments and surgeries.
• Perform surgical procedures on facility animals (e.g., spay/neuter, hernia repair, dental extractions).
• Provide postoperative care and euthanasia as needed.
• Develop and implement animal care SOPs and protocols.
• Attend ACUC meetings and train research staff.
