Job summary

University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks an Animal Care Technician to perform intermediate duties in caring for laboratory animals. The role includes health monitoring, medication administration, and sanitation of facilities on a strict M-F schedule in Peoria, IL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years or more of work experience in an animal care facility or related setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily records of husbandry procedures, animal health checks, and cage counts.
• Receive animals shipped by vendors, cage, feed, water, and record keeping.
• Assist investigators with animal care, treatments, and surgical support as needed.
• Ensure sanitation and environmental controls in animal rooms follow SOPs.
• Handle routine maintenance of animal care equipment and autoclaves.
