Job summary

Sabine River Authority of Texas seeks a Laboratory Analyst in the Environmental Services Division to perform water quality analyses and maintain accurate records, under the supervision of ESD Managers.

You will prepare reagents, operate lab equipment, enter data in LIMS, and participate in QA and safety programs. A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of field and laboratory procedures for analysis of water and wastewater samples desirable.
• Able to make unbiased observations and keep accurate records of data and results.
• Willingness to perform tasks without supervision and work flexible hours.
• Valid Driver's License and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform water quality analyses under supervision of ESD Managers.
• Keep accurate, legible records of data generated.
• Prepare reagents, standards, glassware and apparatus for analyses.
• Enter data into LIMS per SOPs and interpret results.
• Communicate professionally and report questionable data to ESD Managers or QA Officer.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and assist with troubleshooting.
• Participate in QA and safety programs.
• Assist in receiving samples submitted for analyses.
• Perform other duties as assigned by ESD Managers.

Laboratory Analyst- Environmental Services Division

Organization

This position is part of the Water Resources branch of the Environmental Services division.

Position Function

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform water quality analyses under the direct supervision of the ESD Managers
• Keep accurate, legible records of data generated
• Must be capable of communicating and relating professionally
• Prepare reagents and standards according to standard operating procedures
• Prepare glassware and any other apparatus necessary to perform analyses
• Calculate and post analytical results and enter data into the ESD Laboratory Infonnation Management System (LIMS) in accordance with standard operating procedures
• Interpret analytical results and report any questionable data to the ESD Managers, Deputy Technical Manager, or the QA Officer
• Operate and maintain applicable laboratory equipment and assist with troubleshooting
• Participate in quality assurance and safety programs as required
• Assist in receiving samples submitted to the laboratory for analyses
• Perform any other duties assigned by the ESD Managers

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred
• Knowledge of field and laboratory procedures and microbiological principles and techniques for the analysis of water and wastewater samples is highly desirable
• Must be able to make w1biased observations and interpretations and to keep an accurate record of all data and analysis results
• Must be capable and willing to perform assigned task without supervision and work unusual or flexible hours
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record
