Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos). No prior laboratory experience required; on-the-job training will be provided to learn PLM, PCM, TEM techniques and general lab practices.

Responsibilities include preparation and analysis of materials for asbestos content, generating reports in LIMS, data entry, and supporting QA/QC. The position is full-time, with an 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without sponsorship.
• Light microscopy training preferred.
• Some laboratory experience in academic or commercial setting.
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors to perform analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-motivation and adaptability.
• Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.

• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
• Perform quality control practices per QA/QC manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports, and answering phones.
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Orlando, FL. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift:

Position is full time, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Orlando, FL are encouraged to apply
