Job summary

Qualifications

• High School education with biology/chemistry coursework.
• Ability to operate a personal computer.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to exchange information with physicians, nurses and others.
• Organizational and clerical skills to maintain logs and records.
• Knowledge of universal precautions and safe handling of specimens.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens with attention to demo data.
• Process and distribute specimens to appropriate laboratory sections.
• Enter data into the laboratory computer system and logs.
• Triage STAT specimens and maintain log sheets and quality control records.
• Maintain cleanliness and follow safety regulations; report equipment issues.
