An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join their team in southern Michigan. ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services in southern Michigan and Ohio. A national leader in treatment of heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care, ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital is also a pacesetter in Michigan for obstetrics, emergency care, intensive care, controlling infections, and organ donation.
Under supervision and according to established policies and procedures and detailed instructions, performs a variety of duties such as: obtaining venous blood specimens, housekeeping tasks involved in maintaining the laboratory in a clean and orderly condition, distributing supplies, maintaining inventory, and utilizing in-house computer system and other computers within the department.
Education: High school degree or equivalent.
Skills: Completion of formal phlebotomy program or previous experience demonstrating phlebotomy skills prior to employment. Interpersonal skills and technical ability to interact with and draw venous and capillary blood samples from patients of all ages, including newborn and elderly. Basic keyboard and computer knowledge to utilize in-house computer systems and other computers in the department.
Experience: One to three months of on-the-job training required to familiarize with department/hospital procedures.
Personal Protective Equipment: Exposed to odors, infectious materials, toxins, and other hazardous substances.
Physical Demands: Ability to move freely between areas, stand and/or walk for extended periods, occasionally lift supplies weighing up to 50 lbs., bend or stretch to access storage. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime and shift changes, due to fluctuating patient census and staffing needs.
