Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services is seeking a Labor Standards Analyst to investigate and adjudicate wage and hour violations, discrimination charges, and civil rights law violations. The role blends case analysis, legal research, and independent adjudication to resolve disputes under federal and state labor laws.

The analyst will advise stakeholders on employment law compliance and may perform site visits, interviews, and settlement negotiations as part of the enforcement process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, typically in Business.
  • 0-3 years of progressive work experience in Labor Standards, or 4-6 years with education substitution.
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws including wage and hour statutes, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, and EPA.
  • Knowledge of mediation and negotiation techniques and interpersonal communications.
  • Ability to conduct legal research, analyze court decisions, and apply judgment to complex employment cases.
  • Knowledge of public works contracts, prevailing wage, and labor standards program procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates wage and hour violations, employment discrimination charges, and civil rights law violations.
  • Issues determinations on the above matters.
  • Advises stakeholders on employment law compliance.
  • May conduct site visits and interviews.
  • Engages in settlement negotiations and, where appropriate, uses alternative dispute resolution.
