Job summary

The California School Employees Association is hiring a Labor Relations Representative for our Stockton field office. You will recruit, train and mobilize members, negotiate contracts and advocate for members in hearings and bargaining.

We expect a strong candidate with experience in organizing, negotiations or dispute resolution, a bachelor's degree, and excellent communication skills. Some weekend/evening work and occasional travel to support school employees statewide may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a subject that still excites you.
• Experience with negotiations, advocacy or dispute resolution is a strong plus.
• Work experience relevant to organizing and recruiting new members.
• Excellent communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruits and trains members.
• Negotiates contracts.
• Provides leadership to rank-and-file negotiators and committees in collective bargaining.
• Represents members in hearings.
• Identifies and develops member leaders, chapter officers and stewards.
• Influences members and staff.
• Develops members who are committed as advocates for the union.
