POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides general physical labor support for Power Shop and yard operations, including equipment cleaning, facility maintenance, housekeeping, and other operational support activities. The Laborer helps maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment while supporting the daily operational needs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience and ability to use common hand and power tools such as pressure washers, screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers.
• Basic English communication skills (verbal/written).
• Ability to work safely around industrial equipment, vehicles, forklifts, and heavy machinery.
• Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
• Ability to obtain internal forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
• Must possess good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors and fellow employees.
• Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions, and make sound decisions.
• Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.

Preferred

• One (1) year of experience operating a forklift at OSHA standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary

• Pressure washes and cleans heavy equipment, vehicles, and other assigned assets within Seaboard's fleet.
• Pressure washes work areas, shop facilities, and designated operational areas as needed, including the cleanup of spills.
• Performs general housekeeping and maintenance activities within and around the Power Shop facility and surrounding operational areas.
• Operates a forklift and other authorized equipment to transport materials, remove waste containers, and support departmental operations.
• Maintains awareness of all surroundings (i.e., trucks, people, etc.) at all times.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area free of debris and potential safety hazards.

Secondary

• Serves as backup to the crane Laborer.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable.
• The employee is continuously required to stand, walk, reach forward and grasp.
• The employee is frequently required to bend forward, twist, reach overhead and exercise eye-hand coordination.
• The employee is frequently required to talk and hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, squat, pinch, exercise repetitive foot and wrist motion, finger dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination.
• The employee must frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Report safety hazards.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

• Reports directly to the Mechanic’s Foreman and indirectly to the Mechanic’s Assistant Manager. Does not exercise supervision over any position.

CONDITIONS

• Exposure to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts.
• The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
• Moderate vibration with use of hydraulic seating system.
