Job summary

TRDI, under the AbilityOne Program, is seeking a grounds maintenance worker in Texas. The role involves mowing, hedge trimming, tree trimming, landscaping, and operating equipment such as weed eaters, mowers, and chainsaws.

Some tasks may require a bucket truck and long periods of physical activity. Applicants must have tree trimming experience, be able to work a flexible schedule, obtain and maintain a security clearance, and be able to endure extended standing, walking, and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial or public properties such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds and athletic fields.
• Repairs structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks: cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.), trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds and wells.
• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools, sprays lawn, shrubs and trees with fertilizer or insecticide.
• Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, picks up and burns/carts away leaves, paper or other litter.
• Trims and or removes Trees using chainsaws, pole saws, pruning poles etc. Some trimming will require a bucket truck.
• Assists in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment, and may clean comfort stations, offices workshop areas and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing.
• Other tasks as as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor

Job description

Must have grounds maintenance knowledge to include the use of equipment such as weed eaters, lawn mower, hedge trimmers, chainsaws etc. Must be able to run a weed eater on a slope for multiple hours at a time. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds periodically. Must be able to kneel in flower beds for bed maintenance. Must have transportation. Drivers License is a plus.
