Job summary

McGuireWoods in Los Angeles (Century City) seeks a Counsel to join its Labor & Employment Department. You will independently manage single-plaintiff matters, lead wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA actions, and advise on California compliance, policies, and restructuring.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior attorneys, building client relationships, and leveraging Harvey AI to accelerate research and drafting.

Qualifications

• Qualified candidates will have 6+ years of relevant California labor and employment experience at a leading law firm.
• Experience leading wage/hour class actions and PAGA actions, with discovery strategy and class certification briefing.
• Ability to independently manage single-plaintiff matters from inception through resolution.
• Advising clients on CA labor compliance, handbooks, policies and restructuring.
• Strong research, writing, and client-relations skills; experience mentoring juniors.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage and defend single-plaintiff employment cases from inception through resolution.
• Lead defense of wage and hour class actions and PAGA actions, directing discovery and witness interviews.
• Represent clients in administrative hearings and respond to EEOC/CRD charges.
• Develop client relationships and provide strategic litigation counsel; mentor junior attorneys.
